Independent venues are leading the charge with innovative ways to stay relevant during lock down.

Far from lying down in the face of the inevitable challenges that lockdown has brought, many of our venues have come up with innovative ways to keep their heads above water. Deliveries, takeaways and virtual pub events have quickly become a staple of the online pub scene.  Customers can also get in early and buy discounted bar tabs from a number of webshops that are popping up (including our own). Signature brew are selling ‘pub in a box’ complete with spotify playlists and pub quizzes, the three compasses are still hosting their Tuesday night pub quiz with prizes from 40FT brewery, filthybuns and bar tabs,  you can re-name The Plough for 50K, Toast are doing buy a beer and give a meal to those in need, puzzle packs, booze boxes publicans have come out punching.

The love is mutual, these initiatives have been picked up and pocketed and pubs are seeing their locals invest financially (& emotionally) in them. The BarCode has flung it’s Instagram doors open as a virtual pub to support ALL the indies including those unable to promote / launch their initiatives. As the hospitality industry continues to stare down the barrel of cornoa virus, with the lockdown stretching further in to 2020 / 21, the love for the pub is surviving. The indies aren’t giving up, don’t give up on them, head to our shop and support your local one virtual box, quiz, tab at a time.
